 1  Precipice Improv Theater

Our fall season has ended but plans are underway for our winter season, which is scheduled for each saturday night in February 2008 and the first 4 Saturdays in March 2008. Sorry if you missed the opportunity to experience a Precipice Improv performance. Each performance is truly magical. Be sure to check out a performance this upcoming February to experience Improv in a totally new way. You'll have the opportunity to watch Precipice create original, never-seen-before and never-to-be-seen again, totally improvised plays from audience suggestions. We take your suggestions for contrasting locations and weave them into an entire comic play in real time before your eyes. Our shows are always innovative because they are created a new at each performance from your suggestions. During our first show the audience suggested a funeral parlor and an iceberg. Out of those suggestions, Precipice improvised a comic tale of two sons who receive surprise revelations about their dead mother's sex life at her funeral, which sends them spinning into a journey involving threesomes, the priesthood, and a trip to an iceberg. What will our last show be about? Come join us, suggest some locations, and find out! Shows will be held at The Bethesda Writer's Center - 4508 Walsh Street. be sure to check out our website precipiceimprov.com to keep up-to-date and also to check out our upcoming workshops in November....just in case you have always wanted to experience and learn the art of Improvisational Acting for yourself......Creative Director, Gary Jacobs, offers two completely different classes for anyone interested in exploring their creative impulses. Students describe the classes as fun, playful, exciting, and thought provoking. Student satisfaction is so high that over 85% of Precipice students who complete one class sign up for the next class. Students take this workshop to 1) have fun in a playful, supportive environment, 2) get in touch with the artist within themselves by learning to transform their thoughts and feelings into art 3), learn communication and presentation skills that can be useful in work situations, 4) experience personal growth, and 5) develop their acting skills. In addition, students have the unique opportunity to learn to work together to improvise extended scenes and one act plays. Classes are Wednesdays at 7 p.m., starting November 7th and run for 8 weeks.

Advanced Workshop

For those with improv experience, this class gives you the chance to work at the highest possible level of creativity, improvising 20-40 minute plays. Based on 20 years of research, and using the same exercises that trained the Precipice performing company, this workshop uses exercises that are both fun and rigorous, stretching your creative muscles in an exciting and supportive environment. This class is also unique because it meets on Thursdays and Saturdays, and you can attend either or both classes each week during the semester. Classes start November 8th and 10th and run for 8 weeks.
