36th Annual Virginia Wine Festival 13264
Colder weather is ahead, which makes the Virginia Wine Festival the perfect opportunity to sample and stock up on those smoky, full-bodied red wines that seem to go so well with cable-knit sweaters and corduroy pants on cold winter nights. More than 50 Virginia wineries will be in attendance pouring samples -- and if white wines or roses are more your speed, you'll find plenty of those there, too, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

National Geographic All Roads Film Festival 13155
The All Roads Festival features films throughout the day, followed by a GLOBAL GROOVE DANCE PARTY at 9:30pm with DJ Dave Nada. (Party tickets are $20; Age 21 and over.) At noon view "Los Derechos de la Pachamama (The Rights of Mother Earth)" from Peru. At 1:30: "God is a Liar" from Kenya. At 4pm: "Sky Dancer" from China. At 7pm: "Road to Kurdistan."
