Markoff's Haunted Forest 11690
Markoff's Haunted Forest Halloween event starts on Friday the 1st of October. Get a Halloween scare early! Walk down a dimly lit forest trail and encounter the chain saw man and 12 other scenes. There are Haunted Hayrides, a Haunted Bus, Spider Walk climbing wall, Bat Flight zip line, Death Jump trapeze and bonfires & food too. Oct. 1,2,8, 9,15,16,21,22,23,28,29,30 & 31. From 6:30-9:30pm Thurs.& Sun. and 6:30-10:30pm Fri. and Sat. Go through Poolesville, MD on Route 107 and turn right onto Martinsburg Rd. Driveway is 300 yards on left. MHF is in its 18th year and was rated as one of the top 13 Halloween attractions in the U.S. last year by AOL City Guide. In 2006, The Markoff's Haunted Forest was featured on the front page of the Washington Post.


Last year, we had approximately 20,000 adults and children from Metropolitan Washington walk down our scary forest trail and try our many activities in the staging area, the "circle."


As you know, we are Calleva and The Markoff's Haunted Forest is a fund raiser for our camp. We are a non-profit camp with an office in Poolesville, Maryland and our farm in Dickerson, MD.


We give youth scholarships to our camp and bring youth in the Phoenix School (drug and alcohol rehabilitation) to our camp for high adventure/esteem building activities.

Metro Washington, D.C. Tour of Solar Homes & Buildings 13318
Over 50 energy-efficient homes and buildings will highlight solar/passive design, technology and sustainable living concepts, including photovoltaic and solar hot water systems, radiant heat, energy-efficient appliances, and energy-saving construction techniques. 4th Annual Cantina Cup 13473
DC Sail and Cantina Marina come together to put on DC Sail's biggest fundraiser of the year! Profits go to support DC Sail's educational programs. DC Sail's 4th Annual Cantina Cup Regatta will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011.

The Mount Gay sponsored regatta includes a full day of sailing, and the day will conclude with an after-party at Cantina Marina. Tickets are also available to watch the racing from our Corona spectator boat.

Ladies for Life 13548
Free community event to raise breast cancer awareness. It was founded with one goal in mind: educate women about the importance of breast cancer screening and prevention. This year's focus is on breast cancer surgery and breast reconstruction. Among information booths, the event will host a panel discussion with surgeons who are dedicated to breast surgery and reconstruction, as well as a breast cancer survivor who now volunteers at VHC.
