In March, we welcome Nancy Pope, Chief Curator of Postal History at the National Postal Museum. Ms. Pope will talk about the Dead Letter Office, a unique part of America’s postal system since 1777. Undeliverable mail and packages ended up at the Dead Letter Office, where specialists tried to decipher handwriting, incomplete addresses, and other ambiguities.
