Primitive Mind
Influenced by Americana, Rock, Blues Country, Celtic and Reggae this group is hard to "pin down.” Kent Lopez originally formed Primitive Mind back in 1990. First as a studio entity participating in "compilation" CDs that were marketed to College Radio and eventually as a live performance group. Although the line-up has changed over the years the music has stayed true to the original intent ... To Create and perform Original songs taking influences from American and other world music and create a unique sound. As Primitive Mind has evolved as a band it has developed around a nucleus of strong three part vocals and tight rhythms delivered by Kent, Savannah and Theresa. Added to that are the beautiful tone full dobro sounds from Dave and electric "Strat" courtesy of Zach. Unforgettable melodies and tight harmonies win audiences over wherever they perform. The band has gone over big mainly in "Eclectic" venues and Festivals where the concertgoers seek out a variety of musical styles. Based around the state of Maryland, PM brings influences from their collective travels to Austin, Nashville, California and the west coast, Hawaii, Jamaica and the West Indies, the British Isles and Europe. The distinct musical styles from these opposite ends of the world are weaved into an Original brand of music simply known as PM music.

Spencer Bates - Singer/Songwriter/Pianist
Spencer Bates, 22, always loved to sing. As a film student at Northwestern University, he had never played an instrument, but Spencer's underlying passion for performing inspired him to teach himself to play the piano, chord by chord, day by day, and to begin writing his own music. His first self-produced album, "Everybody has a Song," has received wide exposure and has been favorably reviewed on a number of websites, ultimately attracting the attention of mixer/producer Chris Trevett. Together, they produced the "Back to School EP," a preview of Spencer's second album on which they are currently working. Although he has a style all his own, Spencer has already been compared to Elton John and Billy Joel. As male singer/songwriters come back into style, Spencer, armed with his piano, instead of a guitar, fills an obvious void in the mainstream. The depth, wit, and insight of Spencer's songs allow him to stand out as a voice for his generation. Today, the Washington DC native is beginning to play at East coast colleges, in addition to the regular shows in his local area.
