a study in her
A Study in Her started out in 1998 as an attempt to write music differently, improvising using just a delay pedal, a keyboard, and a four-track. It was a departure from writing with other people, and a chance to explore technology in music. It eventually grew to include writing with other people as well as better technology. From the outset, ASiH was never organized for live performance. It was always about the medium of recording. With the release of two full-length albums on Honest In Secret, a split CD with Charlie Brown Gets a Valentine (CBGaV) on Wyndel records, and a spot on Mall's remix album (tbtmo), that mentality changed.
The live band has been a shifting cast, but has included Tamara Black (jenhitt), Lucas Carscadden (Dead Mechanical), Andrew Black (The Explosion), Alex Hedstrom (The Axis Set), Justin Moyer (Supersystem/El Guapo, Edie Sedgwick), Jon Moser (AV Club, CBGaV), Phil Apostol (Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start), Mike Mikowicz, and Magda Nakassis. Recordings have included Tamara Black, Alex Hedstrom, Lucas Carscadden, Justin Moyer, Andrew Black, Luke Fleming, Pavan Segal, Kyung-Nah Koh, Julie Cousin, Judith Kaplan, and Mike Mikowicz.
The new ASiH album, 'Peripheries of Hollywood,' is out now. Send us a message and pick up a copy. For more information, shows, MP3s, and other stuff:
