Brendan Mulvihill - Irish Fiddler
"[Brendan] Mulvihill is one of the planet's greatest folk fiddlers...."--The Washington Post "...one of the best in the world of Celtic music..."--Washingtonian Magazine "[Brendan] Mulvihill, in particular, is an astonishing fiddler, even better now than when he left mouths gaping as a member of the Irish Tradition. He is able to slip in grace notes that harmonize with his main melodic line without sacrificing any of his lustrous tone, agile speed or effortless fluidity." --The Washington Post

Washington Balalaika Society
The Washington Balalaika Society is the premier Russian folk orchestra in America. Formed in 1988 in Northern Virginia, the Orchetra was created to educate, entertain and preserve Russian, Ukrainian and Eastern Europe folk and classical music. Using traditional folk instruments, such as the balalaika, domra and gusli, the Orchestra has entertained audiences from the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall and has grown to be the largest folk orchestra of its kind outside of Russia. Since 2003, the WBS Orchestra is conducted by Svetlana Nikonova, a conservatory trained conductor, arranger and performer. The WBS Orchestra consists of over sixty volunteer musicians who wear traditional Russian costumes. Concerts feature soloists, both local and abroad, to ensure that each performance is remarkable.
