The Cold War International History Project disseminates new information and perspectives on the history of the Cold War, in particular new findings from previously inaccessible sources on "the other side" -- the former Communist world.

The Claude Moore Colonial Farm was established as Turkey Run Farm by the National Park Service in 1972 under President Nixon's Legacy-in-the-Parks program. When federal budget cutbacks threatened the closure of the Farm in 1980, the community rallied behind Congressman Frank Wolf (R,VA) and Senator John Warner (R,VA) to save this popular educational resource. The citizens' group, incorporated in 1981 as The Friends of Turkey Run Farm, Inc., raised the funds to keep the park open as arrangements were made for a permanent solution to the funding dilemma.

The Maryland Historical Society, widely esteemed as one of the nation's finest history museums, was established in 1844 as a private nonprofit institution tocollect, preserve, and interpret the objects and artifacts that illuminate the state's history. In January of that year, 28 leaders of Baltimore's intellectual andartistic community met to form a historical society which was chartered by the Maryland State Legislature that spring. The new institution, housed in a formerpost office on St. Paul Street, began collecting books, records, manuscripts, and objects of local interest for preservation and display.

Peerless Rockville is an award-winning nonprofit, community-based organization founded in 1974 to preserve buildings, objects and information important to Rockville's heritage. Peerless Rockville advances its goals through education, example, advocacy, and community involvement.

To advance the knowledge and understanding of the history of the Smithsonian Institution. The Division produces historical reports, scholarly and popular publications, and exhibits, presents lectures and public programs, compiles databases, conducts and disseminates oral history and video history interviews, and publishes documentary editions relating to the history of the Institution. Division historians provide expert information to Smithsonian staff, researchers, and the general public. They assist scholars conducting research in the history of the Smithsonian and serve as advisors to interns, visiting scholars, and predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows.

The Menare Foundation, Inc. is a national Non-profit organization dedicated to the documentation, preservation, and restoration of Underground Railroad safe-houses and environments. The Menare Foundation, Inc. was created from historian Anthony Cohen's research on the Underground Railroad.

The Society, a not-for-profit organization incorporated in the District of Columbia in 1974, was founded by the late Chief Justice Warren E. Burger who served as its first honorary chairman. The Society accomplishes its mission by conducting public and educational programs, publishing books and other materials, supporting historical research, and collecting antiques and artifacts related to the Court's history. These activities and others increase the public's awareness of the Court's contributions to our nation's rich constitutional heritage.
