Philadelphia, PA - 'Your Morning' on CN8, The Comcast Network cruises into Ocean City, MD for its second live broadcast featured in the four-month 'Nissan Waterfront Tour' highlighting renowned settings ideally located at the water's edge. 'Your Morning' host Greg Coy, along with CN8 reporter Jill Horner invite beachgoers and local shore residents to join them in a live audience, Wednesday, July 25 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the famed Ocean City hotspot, Seacrets, located at 117 49th Street in Ocean City, Md.

July 17 - 2007 Ocean City Beach Patrol announces Ironguard Triathlon Series 2007

Ocean City, MD -- The Ocean City Beach Patrol announces the following races are open to any interested surf lifeguards. The number of competitors will be limited to 50. All competitors receive a t-shirt, and refreshments.

July 21 - Ironguard Medley, 130th St., 6 p.m. (Relay teams) Come out and support the Ocean City Beach Patrol as they show off their physical skills and strength as teams of three -- one runner, one swimmer and one paddler for each team race to the finish line.

July 22 - Individual Championship, 6 p.m., 130th St. 1000-meter swim, two-mile run and 2000-meter paddle board.

August 12 - Hayes Island Ironguard, 9 a.m., inlet. One-mile swim, two-mile paddle, six-mile run; plaques for first, second, third place male and female. The winner is revered as the modern day Ironguard.

The Ocean City Beach Patrol encourages competitions among its employees to motivate the individual surf rescue technician to attain the highest level of fitness and surf rescue skills and exceed the job's requirements.

The next event featuring the staff will be the annual Crew Competition on Tuesday, August 7. This event is always exciting and has great spectator appeal as the guards from the crew that protect you and your family compete for honors against crews from other sections of Ocean City beaches. Come out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7 and support your local lifeguard.

July 16 - Sundaes in the Park family concert series continues July 22 with Quiet Fire

Ocean City, MD - The Town of Ocean City's popular Sundaes in the Park family concert series continues at Northside Park on Sunday, July 22 with the soul show Quiet Fire. The music plays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Northside Park, 127th St. bayside. Admission is free. While the music plays, children will enjoy Mike Rose Magic. Cool off and make your own ice cream sundae for a small fee. Then sit back and enjoy the music in the beautiful setting of Northside Park.

Sundaes in the Park is the family concert series presented by the Ocean City Department of Recreation and Parks Special Events Division. The remaining performances scheduled for the 2007 season are: Nomad (modern country) and Scales & Tales; Aug. 5, The Groove Train (disco party band) and Lollipop the Clown; Aug. 12, Jesse Garron (tribute to Elvis) and Mike Rose Magic; Aug. 19, R.E.D. (fusion R&B) and Bubbles the Klown and Aug. 26, Mary Lou and the Untouchables (classic rock) and Scales & Tales.

July 13 - Slips, boats still available for White Marlin Open

July 13 - Bonfires on the Beach program features OCPD on July 19

Ocean City, MD - Members of the Ocean City Police Department's K-9, bike patrol and mounted police will entertain attendees at the Town of Ocean City's weekly evening Bonfires on the Beach program on Thursday, July 19. The bonfire begins at 9 p.m. on the beach at North Division St.

Bring your beach chairs and blankets and gather around the bonfire. The evening bonfire program is free for the whole family to enjoy. Each Thursday through Aug. 30, the town builds a bonfire on the beach just off the Boardwalk at N. Division St. As you enjoy the bonfire, a different speaker is featured each week.

On July 26, the Ocean City Beach Patrol will discuss their role in protecting our beaches and how beach-goers can safely enjoy the ocean. On Aug. 2, Donna Abbott and Norma Dobrowolski from the Ocean City Department of Tourism will discuss fun things to do in Ocean City as well as the town's history.

On Aug. 9, the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department will showcase the town’s numerous recreational offerings. The Beach Patrol returns to the bonfire program on Aug. 16 and the Police Department's mounted units, bike patrol and K-9 units are back on Aug. 23. Enjoy a great talk by members of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Department as the bonfire program concludes its season on Aug. 30.

July 13 - Ocean City's free Wednesday Concert on the Beach series continues with July 18 with Frankie and the Pack

Ocean City, MD - Take a musical journey through the "Golden Age of American Music" when the Town of Ocean City presents its free Wednesday evening Concert on the Beach series with a performance by Frankie and the Pack on July 18 on the beach at N. Division St. The concert will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

From ballads to swing, disco to Latin and the rock and roll of the '50s and 60s, Frankie and the Pack will take you on a marvelous musical ride with special tributes to Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra among others. Bring your beach chairs and blankets to sit back and enjoy an evening of music just steps from the Boardwalk.

Ocean City's Special Events Division has planned a great series of free concerts this summer. The remainder of the 2007 series includes: July 25, Kevin Kline; Aug. 8, Jay Henley and the Stone Broke Band; Aug. 15, Captain Quint; Aug. 22, The Beach Bumz and Aug. 29, Randy Lee Ashcraft and the Saltwater Cowboys. All shows begin at 8 p.m.

Labor Day Weekend brings two free concerts on the beach with the Saturday, Sept. 1 performance by the Eagles tribute band, Hotel California, and the Sunday, Sept. 2 show by Captain Fantastic with an Elton John tribute. Both Labor Day Weekend concerts begin at 8 p.m. on the beach at N. Division St.

July 10 - 2007 Community Emergency Response Training scheduled to begin in September, citizens urged to register now for free training

Ocean City, MD - Citizens can make a difference for their families by enrolling in the Community Emergency Response Training courses planned to begin in September at the Ocean City Public Safety Building.

Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) is designed to help citizens help themselves and their families in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Due to the fact that emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately following a disaster, CERT is a free training course that aims to provide citizens with basic information for preparedness and techniques when dealing with emergencies. Training covers basic skills including CPR/AUD, first aid, recognizing natural and manmade hazards in our local communities, disaster preparedness such as emergency plans and disaster supply kits, hazardous material emergencies and basic fire suppression.

CERT courses are being offered by the Lower Shore Chapter of the Red Cross in coordination with the Ocean City Emergency Services Dept.

Classes begin Monday, Sept. 17 and will run each Monday evening for seven weeks. To register or for more information, call the Lower Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross at 410-749-5331.

June 26 - 2007 Free Music Thursdays Program on Somerset Plaza - Frank Curreri

Ocean City, MD - On Thursday, July 5th Frank Curreri will perform a tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and other popular singers of that era. This musical performance is part of the 2007 Free Music Thursdays Program on Somerset Plaza, located on Somerset Street, just off the Boardwalk in Downtown Ocean City.

The music program will start at 6:30 pm. There will be limited seating although attendees are welcome to bring their own folding chairs. This special event is free.

June 19 - First white marlin of the season caught

Ocean City, MD - Kevin Hales, of Pittsville, MD reeled in the first official white marlin of the season on June 16.

Hales was fishing aboard the boat "Cat Fish" captained by Doug Simm when he reeled in his prize-winning catch in the Washington Canyon. He used an 80-pound line with spreader-bar for bait. Once boated, he released his catch.

Hales will receive $5,000 from the Town of Ocean City. The award will be given at the Marlin Club banquet in the fall.

June 15 - OC Museum offers free programs on the Boardwalk

Ocean City, MD - Families looking for an enjoyable morning activity in Ocean City can head to the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum. Nestled on the Boardwalk by the Inlet, the museum offers free programs six mornings a week starting Monday, July 2, with topics ranging from knot tying to "All About Sharks."

At 10:30 a.m. each day except Sundays, chairs are set up in front of the famous shark display at the southern end of the Boardwalk where all are welcome to enjoy the entertaining and educational shows.

On Mondays the Ocean City Beach Patrol takes the spotlight and demonstrates the newest techniques in lifesaving. Along with teaching beach safety and advising guests on beach law, the beach patrol displays various pieces of equipment used on the beach. From the iconic red buoy that has saved countless lives to the official beach patrol jet ski, learn about the tools and techniques the beach patrol uses to safeguard the surf.

Tuesdays Museum Curator, Suzanne Hurley gives an in-depth look at the history of Ocean City with a program entitled "O.C.B.C.- Ocean City Before Condominiums." Hurley, an Ocean City native, regales the audience on how Ocean City was transformed from a quiet fishing village into the premier beach resort of the East Coast, giving special focus on the many women that helped craft the city.

Wednesdays the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary gives hands-on instruction to participants on how to tie all kinds of nautical knots. From a sheepshank to the bowline, the auxiliary will demonstrate the particulars and provide rope to tie with. This program can be especially informative for prospective boaters of all ages.

Thursdays are devoted to sharks. Learn all about one of the most misunderstood creatures of the sea as Sandy Hurley, Assistant Curator of the museum, unravels the myths and mysteries behind these underwater predators. Find out how sharks are able to detect electric currents in the water, or how fast the fastest shark swims. Hurley also tells the stories of the trophy fishes displayed in front of the museum. Friday mornings, museum society member Tom Wimbrow focuses on "Storm Warriors," a program geared for children ages 8 to 14 years. Experience what it was like to serve in the United States Life-Saving Service (today's Coast Guard), especially during stormy weather. Learn what skills you had to have to be successful. Complete your experience by applying to be a "Junior Surfman." Saturday guests are invited into the Museum's Aquarium Room to watch the marine critters eat their morning meal. While inside, learn about local marine life. After the programs guests are invited to enter the museum and view the collections of Life Saving Service artifacts, antique bathing suits, Ocean City history and much more. Admission to the museum is $3 for adults, $1 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under are admitted free.
