Avery L. Osborne, Manager of Advertising & Public Relations for Mikimoto (America) Co., Ltd., acted as an impromptu emcee. We owe Avery a nod of thanks for saving the day for the DCPages.

Both the press and the Mikimoto contingency were given the wrong time for the cruise's departure.

Our car and their limos pulled into the parking lot just in time to see the ship set out down the Potomac River.

Avery made arrangements with the management of the Odyssey Cruise Line to have the ship dock in Georgetown for us and, after a wild ride across town, we were all able to continue as planned.

If you plan to cruise the Potomac on the Odyssey though, you should confirm the time of your departure.

General Manager Stephen Dutcher informs us that this was the first and absolute last time that the boat would make such a stop.
