The highlight of the afternoon was a special Tea Ceremony done to honor
the Cherry Blossom Princesses. Mrs. Keiko Okuda (wife of Minister
Okuda), the shujin or tea host, served 65 cups of matcha (green tea) to
guests. Mrs. Okuda studied at the Urasenke Tea School in VA to prepare
for this day. She regrets not taking a greater interest in the traditions of Japan when she was younger, but is quite pleased to rediscover them as an adult. |
